U of A Masters Cohorts

The University of Akron College of Education Office of Outreach and Professional Learning is offering several opportunities for Akron Public School teachers to further their education by adding a master’s degree or an endorsement to their credentials. The University offers Masters in Education cohorts through its Outreach program.  For current  information about any of the U's masters cohort programs, contact Barbara Jenkins at (330)-972-2777 or outreachga1@uakron.edu & UA page

AEA Children's Christmas Party

More that 190 members' children and grandchildren enjoyed crafts, snacks, a magic show, and pictures with Santa at the AEA Children's Christmas Party.  Much thanks to our party committee and to our student helpers from Ellet High

 

AEA Retired Teachers' Dinner

AEA honored one of its largest groups of retirees at its annual recognition dinner.   Innes teacher, and after-hours comic Marv Conner provided the entertainment with lots of teacher jokes.  Click here for more pictures from the 2011 Retired Teacher Dinner.

 

 

 

Broadway in Akron is back with a new season of shows: My Fair Lady, Rock of Ages, The Color Purple, Fiddler on the Roof, and the Blue Man Group. See the Broadway page for more information

 

Wellness Workout-- Special Rates at Area Fitness 19 Clubs

In anticipation of a wellness program, AEA members are being offered special rates for memberships to Fitness 19 health clubs--$49 upon joining and $10 a month thereafter.   Fitness 19 offers plenty of cardio machines, weight machines and free weights in a non-threatening atmosphere.  Memberships are good at the two area locations--West Akron/Fairlawn and Stow.  Babysitting while you work out & personal training are also available for additional fees. Bring this flyer to either location for details or to enroll. 

Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

39 New Teachers Welcomed

Thirty nine new teachers were welcomed at AEA's annual New Teacher Luncheon.  Best of luck for a successful year to all of our new colleagues.

 

City Series Football Media Day

North High football coach and teacher Mike Laktash speaks about the Vikings' upcoming season at the annual Akron City Series Football Media Day.  The event, sponsored by AEA, is attended by all City Series Coaches along with two players that they wish to recognize.  Several members of the media were also in attendance.

 

 

Nearly 300 baseball fans--AEA members and their families--attended the 30th Annual AEA Night at the Stadium. While the team could have faired better, the fireworks and the tailgate was terrific

WORK OUT FOR LESS  Regular workouts can help reduce stress. AEA members can now join the Falls Natatorium for the Corporate Rate. You must purchase a year's membership.  Bring your AEA membership card and photo ID to the Natatorium when you purchase your membership. The Natatorium is a state of the art health and wellness facility. We do have a limited number of single visit passes for members who are serious about joining, but who would first like to visit the Nat.
